Mataura Valley Milk is a New Zealand-based dairy nutrition business producing high-value milk powders for global export markets, particularly across Asia.
Operating in a category dominated by scale and undifferentiated “New Zealand quality” claims, the challenge was to define a brand position that could justify premium, build trust, and translate consistently across multiple audiences - from procurement teams and regulators through to brand partners and end consumers.
We worked with Mataura Valley Milk to establish a clear global value proposition grounded in nutrition, provenance and production integrity. This became the foundation for a cohesive brand system spanning positioning, tone of voice, identity and packaging.
A structured messaging framework was developed to ensure clarity across markets, languages and touchpoints - supported by multilingual content tailored for key Asian markets, including Mandarin. This ensured the brand could communicate with consistency and confidence in culturally diverse environments.
To reinforce trust, we created the Mataura Trust Mark and South 45 - a visible signal of origin, quality and control - applied consistently across communications and product.
The brand proposition, “Creating Tomorrow’s Nutrition for a Growing World,” anchors the system - expressing a forward-looking commitment to global nourishment through premium dairy.
The result is a brand platform designed to scale: consistent across markets, adaptable across products, and built to support long-term global growth.
